NEW South Wales premier Kristina Keneally has said that the government will offset the proposed electricity rise from 1st July next year. The offset will done by funding Solar Bonus Scheme with the Climate Change fund. The entire cost of the $1.5 billion solar bonus scheme will be paid by the government till 2016.
The Electricity bills were supposed to go up by $100 next year and NSW government has decided two months ahead of election to offset the price rise. NSW government contribution is estimated $471 million in 2011-2012 for the cost of the Solar Bonus Scheme. Ms Keneally said that government want to provide relief from rising energy cost especially low income earners.
Every house in Awali may soon drive the solar power energy, if a pilot project to initiate Bahrain National Oil and Gas Authority (Noga) proves to be successful.
U.S. company, Petro Solar now carry out a feasibility of the project, said Oil and Gas Affairs Minister and Noga chairman Dr Abdulhussain Mirza.
“We had a meeting with Petro Solar delegation led by President Jenny Martin, who visited Bahrain and they said solar energy was a real alternative to Bahrain,” he told a sister newspaper Gulf Daily News (GDN).
Dr Mirza said Noga also discuss how to finance the project.
“If the project is successfully implemented in Awali, there is a real possibility it could take away and implement in other areas of Bahrain, as well,” he said.
“The Pertrosolar visit we also discussed the future of energy in Bahrain.”
GDN previously reported that the government had approved plans to establish two new “hybrid” power plants, one to use solar energy and the second using wind power, which combined would be 200 MW of power.
Looking towards the need of large solar fields, the LSAs (Liquid Solar Arrays) are now designed to float in water.Grids of F-CPV modules, generating 200 kilowatts, can be configured to fit any reservoir, lake, pond or oceans. When storms hit, they simply submerge themselves under the water until it passes. It’s built using light weight, constructed by plastic and fibreglass with existing solar concentrator technologies. These solar power panels on water doubles as a breathable reservoir cover that significantly reduces evaporation and eliminates organic and algae growth. The efficiency of the system increases in the areas of strong sunlight, such as Africa, Asia, Australia, Mediterranean countries and South, Central and southern North America.
Both the apparatus used to convert solar energy and to store the energy, floats on a body of water that confines and stores a large quantity of solar-heated water for producing electricity with a closed-cycle heat engine. An expansive horizontal structure parallel to the surface of the water confines one or more horizontal layers of water, a distributed array of heat transfer structures gathers solar energy and imparts it to the confined water, the heat engines produce electricity utilizing the temperature difference between the confined water and ambient water. The heat transfer structures can be configured to transfer solar energy to the confined water using a convective process; and some or all of the heat transfer structures can be configured to transfer solar energy to the stored water using a distillation process that optionally produces distilled water as a by-product.
The weather bureau has forecast temperature as 39 degrees Celsius in Melbourne, 42C in Adelaide, 46C at Wudinna and 45C at Ceduna in the west of South Australia.
If you are fed up of High Temperature and rising electricity bills thensolar power is the best ways to reduce or totally eliminate heat and household electricity bills. The size of solar system you purchase will ultimately determine how much money you can save and/or earn through feed-in tariffs.
Solar power is the conversion of sunlight into electricity, either directly using photovoltaics (PV), or indirectly using concentrated solar power (CSP). Concentrated solar power systems use lenses or mirrors and tracking systems to focus a large area of sunlight into a small beam. Photovoltaics converts light into electric current using the photoelectric effect.
The Government is also supporting the green energy, and all states have solar rebates in form of direct rebate and feed-in-tariff for solar electricity generation. The Government Rebate will be reduced in year 2011. So it is best to take advantage of Rebates now.
“It is said that the sun’s rays falling on the earth for about twenty minutes is enough to meet the electricity requirements of the year. It is important that we control this energy for our our advantage to fight against global warming. Solar energy can be used for domestic use or part of it can be converted into solar electricity from solar power technology.
